This Week In Twitter: 7/19-7/29

It's been a good week since I've posted anything and alot has gone on both in my life and in the world of sports (especially baseball). I think this is the first time I've even touched my laptop in the past 4 days and I definitely haven't had the time to post anything during that span; a lack of free time is the natural bi-product of working two jobs. I have a plethora of posts planned for this weekend but don't presently have the time to write them. For now I'd like to introduce a new feature on this blog: "This Week In Twitter."

I haven't fully embraced Twitter as a social networking site a la Facebook, but I do find it useful in my quest to be constantly up-to-date on everything baseball. Here are some of my favorite tweets (wow, that word makes me cringe) of the week:

Royals Authority: Father behind me is teaching his son how to play defense using Yuni as an example. Poor kid. A replacement level little leaguer

  • In response to Yuniesky Betancourt's general suckitude.

Rays Index: Every time I read/hear "testicular contusion," God kills some of my sperm

  • In response to Carl Crawford's unfortunate injury on an errant pickoff throw.

Rany Jazayerli: Not a shutout! In your face, Twinkies! In your face!

  • In response to the Royals 19-1 loss to the Twins.

David Snell: Today the Royals' Jason Kendall became the 5th player in ML history to catch 2,000 games. 1,986 of them have been this season.

  • In response to the Royals letting Kendall catch a league leading percentage of his team's games this year.

Keith Law: In other Nats news , Tyler Clippard sneezed in the pen and the team had him cryogenically frozen until a cure for sniggles is discovered.

  • In response to the Nationals scratching Steven Strasburg from his scheduled start 3 days ago.

Paul Beeston: Working on a trade that sends Bautista to TB in exchg for the rest of their games vs. BAL. PLAYOFFS!

  • In response to the Blue Jays winning ways versus the Orioles.

Braves Journal: Livan has 3.12 ERA entering game. Ironically, is 312 years old.

  • In response to Livan Hernandez predating the Big Bang.

Ken Temendous: My life's goal just switched from "Win Screenwriting Oscar" to "Get @billjamesonline to follow me on twitter."

  • In response to Bill James new twitter account and his utter lack of interest in following ANYBODY.

Lone Star Ball: Richard Justice said Astros scouts see J.A. Happ as a "Cliff Lee type"
Jonah Keri: Astros scouts confirm Cliff Lee and J.A. Happ both efficient exchangers of carbon dioxide and oxygen

  • In response to the Astros being a horrible, horrible franchise.

More posts to come in the next few days ...
